What time can we check in and out?

Check in will be after 12:30pm and check out is 10:30am on your last day

Can I arrive earlier than 12:30pm for my pitch?

We prefer new arrivals from 12:30pm to allow us time clean the toilet/shower blocks and cut the grass in the morning.  Please call us if you need an early check in, however, and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Can I check out late?

Check out is 10:30am prompt. However if your pitch is not booked, we charge £5 per unit to stay until 3pm. Please ask us if this is an option.

Can I change the dates I have booked?

Bookings are non-transferrable other than in our sole discretion. If you need to change your booking, please contact us as soon as possible.

Will my Sat Nav take me there?

Please make sure to input "Quantock Camping" into any sat nav search as the postcode alone will take you into West Bagborough, which is not suitable for turning large vehicles!

Can I bring my work truck?

No, we cannot accommodate commercial vehicles and will need to ask you to park offsite.

Are there any pubs close by?

The Rising Sun, West Bagborough is less than a mile away and accessible by car, bike and via a scenic public footpath. We welcome the new owners and are excited to see what they do with the pub and garden.

The Blue Ball, Triscombe (our personal favourite), is less than 2 miles away and accessible by car, bike or walking via country lanes. It has a large garden and great atmosphere, with a mix of locals and visitors. They have also welcomed a new chef for their 2021 season.

The Bird in Hand and the Lethbridge Arms are both in Bishops Lydeard (which also has a Co-Op, petrol station, medical centre, butchers and paper shop)

The Farmers Arms is less than a mile away via the A358. While walkable part of the way via a public footpath, you do need to walk part of the way on the verge on the busy A358, so we recommend driving.

The Carew Arms, Crowcombe is 3 miles away via the A358. Another great country pub with a large garden. Again, a fun mix of both locals and visitors.

Should I wait to be pulled off my pitch during bad weather?

YES! Please let us know when you wish to leave and we will pull you off with a tractor. Please DO NOT try to drive off the grass. If your wheels spin and/or you get stuck that pitch is ruined for the rest of the season. We are a very small site, so this has a drastic knock on effect for us.

Can I bring my my dog?

We love dogs and pride ourselves on being a laid back, dog-friendly site. However, we do have cats and our chickens are free range, and we do not tolerate dogs chasing either of them (this rule applies to children chasing/poking/throwing things at them also). Please ensure your dog is always on a lead while on site, therefore.  You are welcome to use the top paddock with the post and rail fencing to run your dogs off leash (but as always, please pick up after them).

In addition, dogs must not be left unattended at any time, you must pick up after them, and please make sure your dog does not cause damage or disturbance to the site or other guests.

We reserve the right to ask anyone breaking this rule to leave without any refund.

Please make sure you never, ever let your dogs chase/worry sheep -they can die quickly merely from being worried even for short periods of time, especially when pregnant with lambs. Most people are not aware that it is also a criminal offence and farmers have the legal right to shoot your dog. In summer months, all dogs are required to be on a lead on the Quantocks.

Are fire pits allowed?

While no open fires are allowed, fire pits and BBQs are permitted if raised off the ground to protect the grass. Please do not place disposable BBQs on the picnic tables or directly on the grass. Complimentary fire pits and BBQs are available. A 'fire pit bundle' that includes fire starter, kindling and large net of logs is available at the farm house for £10.

How do I pay?

The easiest way to pay is online through the secure payment system provided by Anytime Booking. You may also book with us direct and pay by cash or bank transfer. The booking secures a pitch for the dates you have specified subject to receiving authorised payment within 24 hours of making the booking.

Are day visitors allowed on site?
We do not mind day visitors. However, please notify us of all visitors in advance. There is a fee of £5 per car. We are a very small site, and guest vehicles must not block other campers and should be parked by the farm house during wet weather rather than on the grass.
What are the rules of the countryside?

As well as the Quantock Hills, we have lots of wonderful footpaths that are easily accessible from the site. In order to help keep it an area of outstanding natural beauty for other visitors, and continue to be welcomed with open arms by the locals, please see below some tips on countryside etiquette:

There are plenty of beautiful bridleways and mapped routes for mountain biking. Please do not make new tracks and refrain from riding at night. This is to allow animals, such as our local red deer, to remain in their natural habitat rather than being driven away by excessive human noise and contact.

If you are lucky, you will see our resident Quantock ponies wandering the hills. Please help us keep them both healthy and wild by not feeding them. What may seem like a harmless treat can, at best, cause them to become aggressive, as they start to expect treats from everyone, or, at worst, actually kill them. Horses do not have the ability to vomit and instead can die of colic (stomach ache).

Finally, we hope it goes without saying to please never litter, including leaving dog poo bags. If you are out on a walk, it is better to flick it into a hedge rather than leaving bags lying around that don't decompose! The wild animals, hill sheep and ponies can die from eating plastic bags and litter.

Thank you for respecting our beautiful countryside.
