GENERAL RULES - To ensure everyone has a wonderful stay, we ask that you please abide by the following:
CHECK IN AND OUT TIMES: Check in is between 2pm and 7pm. If you need to check in outside of these times, please let us know. Check out is 10:30am on your day of departure. However, if we have availability, we offer a 3pm check out for a fee of £5. Please ask us if this is an option.
DRIVING ON THE GRASS: Please do not turn your wheels when you are not moving. In bad weather, do not drive all the way to the back of your pitch and do not try to pull away too quickly (especially motorhomes). Gently roll back and then slowly drive forwards in first gear. If in doubt or your wheels spin even once, we will help you/tow you off. We are a tiny site, so every pitch counts and a ruined pitch means loss of business for us for up to three weeks.
ELECTRIC CARS: Please let us know if you have an electric car so we can let you know where to charge it. We charge £15 for an all-day or all-night charge.
CHEMICAL WASTE: We can only accept green toilet chemical waste.

RECYCLING: Please recycle and use the food waste bins and dog poo bins only for their intended purpose; and conversely, do not place food or dog poo in the general waste bins.
DOGS: Dogs must be on a lead at all times, never left unattended and should not cause a nuisance to other guests. Provided the top post and rail paddock is empty, you are welcome to let your dogs off lead in there for a run. Please always pick up after them and use the dog bins provided (we prefer you use environmentally friendly bags). Never, ever let your dogs chase/worry sheep - they can die quickly, even from being worried for short periods of time, especially when pregnant with lambs. It is a criminal offence and farmers have the legal right to shoot your dog. In summer months, all dogs are required to be on a lead on the Quantocks.
FIRES: Open fires are not allowed, but we provide complimentary fire pits. If you are using your own fire pit, please make sure they are raised off the ground and that the grass beneath is protected. Please do not place disposable BBQs or other hot items such as kettles or saucepans on the picnic tables or directly on the grass. All fire pits must be extinguished by 11pm.
NOISE: SSSSHHHH! There should be no noise between the hours of 11pm and 8am (e.g., no music, loud laughter/talking, no dogs barking and no vehicle engines running, etc.), and no disturbing noise at any other times. No sitting out after 11pm and all fires in the fire pits must be distinguished safely.
LIGHTS: We are a dark sky site, so lights will be turned off at night.
DAY VISITORS: Please notify us of visitors in advance. There is a fee of £5 per car and visitors must leave by 10pm.
FOOTPATHS: There is a beautiful public footpath one field away that takes you to the Rising Sun and the Quantocks. We do not advise you using the footpath that goes in the opposite direction (towards the Farmers Arms) as it merely takes you on to a dangerous section of the main road. Please stick to the footpaths and do not stray on to private property.
GENERAL BEHAVIOUR: You are required to refrain from any form of anti-social behaviour, including loud music, drunkenness, drug use, excessive noise or aggression of any kind whilst on site or in the surrounding area

RULES OF THE COUNTRYSIDE: In order to help keep it an area of outstanding natural beauty for other visitors, and continue to be welcomed with open arms by the locals, please abide by countryside etiquette. There are plenty of beautiful mapped routes for mountain biking. Please do not make new tracks and refrain from riding at night. This is to allow animals, such as our local red deer, to remain in their natural habitat rather than being driven away by excessive human noise and contact, which is currently a huge problem.

The Quantock ponies also wander the hills. Please help us keep them both healthy and wild by not feeding them. What may seem like a harmless treat can, at best, cause them to become aggressive, as they start to expect treats from everyone, or, at worst, actually kill them. Horses do not have the ability to vomit and instead can die of colic.

Finally, we hope it goes without saying to please never litter, including leaving dog poo bags. If you are out on a walk, it is better to flick the poo into a hedge rather than leaving bags lying around that don't decompose! Leaving aside it ruins the countryside, wild animals, hill sheep and ponies can die from eating plastic bags and litter.
Thank you for respecting our beautiful countryside and helping.
